  1. beautiful rich colour and I love the title. As far as it being finished, as the viewer – it is. However, as an Artist, I know the feeling of not knowing. I recently asked a friend and very experienced artist the same questions. She said “you know a painting is finished when you have a complete feeling of release and contentment” I hope this helps. And I hope to see lots more of your work as I really like it.

    • Thank you for your comment, Jackie. It helps me to understand better how other people see my work. I always want to fix every percieved flaw, but I have to stop before I overwork the painting. I don’t always know precisely where that stopping point is.

This painting is part of a larger series. After a long period where I couldn’t paint at all I did more than 30 paintings in one day: all with the same composition, but different color schemes that bring out different aspects of the composition. I’m still in the naming and refining phase of most of the rest of the paintings, and I’m not sure I want to post them all here but I will definitely post the best ones.

  2. I think how we do our art (painting/poetry) is a metaphor for how we live our lives. Perhaps the flaws are meant to be there as they add beauty and interest to the painting…
